Finally wrapped up the script for a short film me and my girl­friend are work­ing on for our uni­ver­sity the­sis — which is a huge deal! To finally be able to type the words “Final Draft” onto the title page and head­ers was an amaz­ing feel­ing, espe­cially because we were able to final­ize some­thing we’re really proud of and super stoked to film. A lot of that due to an amaz­ing first draft our friend Thad­deus wrote for us to begin with.

Today, we offi­cially began pre-production, a whole, new, time-consuming stage –albeit one that we really enjoy. We were doing some loca­tion scouting/lighting tests/having a date in the for­est (despite of the crazy cold), and I ended up tak­ing some of the best pho­tos I’ve taken in a while. This is the first one of the set. Enjoy!

Some can­dids I took of my sis­ter today in down­town Oakville. Stopped by Cobs Bak­ery and got some deli­cious treats — the one being unveiled here being an apple log.

At a cross­roads right now with can­dids like these. Vic­to­ria and I are both get­ting more and more into pho­tog­ra­phy with a stu­dio work­flow and work­ing with strobes. We have a cou­ple photo shoots in mind, but never have the time to set them up. Film, being our pri­mary love and focus, just takes up all our time!

We’ll see for now. School’s also steal­ing any free time we have at our dis­posal, but I know some amaz­ing stuff is developing.

By the time we reached Times Square on our NY adven­ture, we couldn’t even walk. We rushed into Planet Hol­ly­wood to have din­ner, but we knew dessert lay blocks away in a lit­tle store we knew only by name. Limp­ing over to a cab after din­ner, we uttered the address that glowed on our iPhone’s Google map, and away we went.

Short of fif­teen min­utes later, we had arrived. Noth­ing like what I had expected, Serendip­ity, famous for both its amaz­ing desserts and the film which it inspired, looked more like a cloth­ing store, dec­o­rated with acces­sories and other intri­ca­cies throughout.

We were told the wait would be forty-five min­utes, but it was lit­tle over thirty; and well over an hour for those who arrived after us.

The gigan­tic glasses of frozen hot choco­late that awaited us were bliss, and made the whole trip worth it. By the time we were done, the NY sky­line was pitch black, and it was time to go back to New Jer­sey, feet sore, stom­achs full, eyes barely open, but extremely happy nonetheless.

Feels like I’ve been every­where this past month! Have been away a lot and haven’t had a chance to keep up with any of my online duties! I went to New York/New Jer­sey dur­ing the long week­end and had an amaz­ing time.

Out­side of B&H in NY (or as I refer to it, The Mecca for Cin­e­matog­ra­phers ), I saw this guy with this beau­ti­ful vin­tage cam­era. I asked to take his por­trait, at which he responded, “You got one shot. And don’t make me look white!”

Well, I hope I did him justice!
